Court Hearing #25 on 19 May 2006 - 19 May 2006
by Eric
Salam Ani - (Sec- Buyat Village)
As defendant one and two I accept this witnesses testimony in it’s entirety:
· People keep fishing in Buyat Bay so it seems the function of the bay remains the same.
· It’s hard to imagine that the government believes Buyat Bay is polluted since they have never advised the people not to fish in the bay.
· I find it simply amazing that one family provoked and assisted by a few outsiders confused and misinformed a whole nation along with the outside world.
· I hope that those responsible for this travesty to these people also have the opportunity to sit before this court and be accountable for their actions.
Madjid Andaria (Head of Village – Bilang)
As defendant one and two I accept this witnesses testimony in it’s entirety:
Interestingly, this witness confirmed earlier testimony that a mass media and misinformation campaign by select individuals devastated a regions livelihood, not PT-NMR
Jantji Aring (Village Head - Ratatotok-1)
As defendant one and two I accept this witnesses testimony in it’s entirety:
· Interestingly, this witnesses opinion confirmed others testimony that he has not observed negative effects from PT-NMR’s operation.
Haji Dahlan (Village Head - East Ratatotok)
As defendant one and two I accept this witnesses testimony in it’s entirety:
· From this witnesses testimony, it is a pity that outsiders working with a small group within Buyat Panti disrupted the livelihoods and economy of a community that are our neighbours. This has been a travesty for the whole region.
